Hi there! I’m a recent graduate who loves writing, learning and finding the “why.”

My name is Cate Manning, and I am a graduate of the University of Kansas, where I studied strategic communications and global & international studies. I see the intersection of these two disciplines as a powerful tool to effect change through strong research and communication.

Reading and writing have helped me make some sense of the world, and I’d like to help others do the same.

I love learning about anything and everything, and I’m excited to gain new skills as I start my career. Feel free to browse this site to see some of my work and reach out if you want to connect!

01

Writing

Storytellers of all kinds — journalists, songwriters, painters, filmmakers, biographers, marketers — constantly inspire me to become a better one myself.

I recently completed an internship with Union Pacific Railroad’s corporate communications department, where I wrote weekly articles about employee safety milestones, company benefits and more. In college, I occasionally wrote about movies for the radio station’s website, too.

02

Photography

I take photos primarily as a hobby (i.e., while on vacation), but I’m interested in gaining experience in brand photography, commercial shoots or portraiture.

Get to know me

I’m a Midwesterner, born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. I love travel, long walks, history/culture podcasts and public transportation. I love to dance to live music and wander museums. My favorite movie is “Dazed and Confused.” I know some German and French, and I need to brush up on my Spanish. Most importantly, I’m a cat person.
